Battle of the Cookie Bakers

Because we quite apparently didn't have enough fun-food in the house, Mary Ann recently issued a challenge to all members of the Korte family. Each interested contestant was to find a Christmas cookie recipe we've never made before. Something new, something different, something interesting. We were to bake our choice recipe and submit to peer review by a panel of independent judges.

On December 22 2004 we gathered to accept the challenge. Here you see the results, and on the following pages you see the fun we had getting there.

In the final analysis, earning 68 points from our esteemed panel of judges, Mary Ann and Diane's Peppermint Jewels earned the gold medal. Don's Gingerbread Persons earned a respected second place with 66.7 points (and made the kitchen smell WONDERFUL). Carla and Joyce's Holly Delight (in later stages, more popularly known as "Elf Poop") while winning bonus points for their delightful presentation, earned overall bronze with 63.5 points.

It was great fun, and there's even a couple cookies still left after all the judging, visiting, and munching!! Thank you to our wonderful panel of judges!
